On August 1st, a well-attended neighbor-friendly gathering took place at Sims Park. The event saw the participation of Fire and Police First Responders, who came together to savor delicious ice cream and hot dogs with Shandon neighbors.

Another neighbor-friendly event was attended by hundreds on Aug. 6 at Sims Park. Fire and Police First Responders joined us to enjoy ice cream and hot dogs.

Shandon's annual event is popular with neighborhood children, parents, and grandparents. Our generous grand sponsor, Eggs Up Grill, provided food, drink,and plastic eggs for the kids to "hunt".

On July 19, 2018 the first pair of signs welcoming visitors to the Shandon Neighborhood were placed at the Heyward and Harden Streets triangle. The signs were paid for by Shandon Council fundraising and culminated a year of effort and coordination with the City of Columbia.

Visitors were delighted at the display of decorating talent and home design put on view by homeowners who volunteered for the 2018 Homes For The Holidays Tour at Christmas. Both the Shandon and Hollywood-Rose Hill neighborhoods participated. Click the image at left to view a few examples.

A clear sky greeted runners preparing for the 4K/8K race in Shandon. They competed for Overall and age-specific category awards. Enthusiasm was everywhere.

Rain threatened but held off as Shandon residents enjoyed the event marked by free ice cream and hot dogs. Children played in the park, ran through the water fountain and admired the fire truck. As a new feature older attendees were able to partake of an adult beverage in a separate designated area.

Saturday morning, March 26 was a wonderful day filled with lots of children and families for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. There were over 1200 eggs and the toddlers and youngsters cleaned the park of anything resembling an egg!

Columbia lived up to it's nickname...Famously Hot, but our families enjoyed the hot dogs, ice cream, Shandon area fire fighters and the Columbia Police Department's K-9 unit.

Tremendous turnout of 350+ runners and raised more than $2,000 after expenses.
